The arrival of the holiday spirit officially gets started in Manheim.  Join us the weekend of December 7th, 8th and 9th for a real life “Whoville” experience!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7TH

The festivities begin at the Folk Art Show!  The show will feature the work of a dozen artisans who will fill the decorated Manheim Railroad Station located at 210 South Charlotte Street.  “We will have a wide variety of hand-crafted items that will be perfect for the holiday gift giving.”  Stated Doug Shaw, Event Coordinator and Woodcarver.  The event will also feature glass blowing demonstrations and hand-blown items by Stiegel Glassworks 1976.  The restored 1881 railroad station is handicap accessible.  Light refreshments will be offered and Admission is free.  Show hours are 3:00pm – 8:00pm.

The Women’s Club of Manheim will also be selling their sugary concoctions of delicious cookies.  The one pound cookie trays are available for pick up at Divine Consign, Shaub’s Dry Cleaning and the Manheim Auto Auction.

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8TH

Saturday brings a fun filled day for the whole family! Start your morning at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ located at 50 North Main Street for a delicious breakfast with the jolly old man himself!  Breakfast includes grandma’s favorite mouth-watering pancakes, farm fresh sausage, and coffee, tea and juice.  The breakfast will begin at 8:30am – 10:00am.  Tickets for this special event are on sale now at $6 for children ages 12 and over, $4 for children ages 3-11 and children under 3 are free.  All proceeds benefit the Manheim Food Pantry and the Youth Ministry at St. Paul’s UCC. Tickets can also be purchased by calling (717) 665-2447. 

After your delicious breakfast, head over the Manheim Community Library located at 15 East High Street for Crafts, Cookies and Cocoa with Mrs. Claus!  The fun begins at 10:00am until 2:00pm where children can create beautiful hand-crafted gifts and ornaments for the holiday season!  During the morning, Mrs. Claus will read some of her favorite stories of the wintery season!  For more information, please call 665-6700.

Saturday will also be the second day of the Folk Art Show which will begin at 10:00am – 2:00pm at the railroad station.

Saturday evening will mark the Manheim Downtown Development Group’s 12th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting!  The event will begin at 7:00pm – 8:30pm with performances by Cricket’s Performing Arts, IStage and Rhythm N Motion.  Our tree lighting would not be complete without Mr. and Mrs. Claus!  Residents and visitors can buy a chance to “Flip the Switch” on the lights illuminating the tree that will adorn our beautiful and historic Market Square this holiday season! The annual Christmas Tree Lighting is a special event for the young and old.  Other event festivities will include tuba playing, pony and cart rides, holiday carols and the lighting of the tree!  The event is free and held on our Historic Market Square in Downtown Manheim with plenty of parking in the municipal lots on North Wolf Street or North Hart Street and off street parking on Charlotte Street. 

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9TH

Sunday will round out the weekend! The Women’s Club of Manheim will host their annual Hospitality Tour.  The tour will feature an array of six Manheim area homes decorated for the holiday season.  Advanced tickets can be purchased for $10 at Shaub’s Dry Cleaning, Longenecker’s Hardware, Divine Consign, or any WCM Member.  For more information, please contact Sandy at 575-8179.
